We planned a camping trip to one of the Scouts' farms.  A storm system on Friday, with heavy rain and 60 mph winds, looked pretty serious.  We arrived Saturday morning instead.

As soon as everything was set up, we started the activities for the day.  The first was a fire lighting contest.  The task was to see who could build a fire and boil a can of water fastest.  Can you tell which of the two teams won? P2100023.JPG (256291 bytes) P2100029.JPG (263297 bytes)

That night it got very cold.  It was so cold that the milk and juice froze.  The Scoutmaster had a cup of juice and set it down.  When he came back to it a few minutes later, the top was frozen over.  Everyone got into their sleeping bags to warm up.  The next morning, water had to be melted to cook breakfast.  It was OK though because the kitchen crew fixed hot pancakes with hot syrup.  Finally it was time to pack up camp and go home.  Maybe it'll be a little warmer for the next camping trip.
